Jamuary 2016 Update

Time for a new sports update. Well, baseball season did not go as good as was expected for the Washington Nationals(many thought they would be in the World Series) and din't even make the playoffs. Still looking forward to this coming 2016 season. Nats have lost a few players and got a new manager. They have lost Desmond and Zimermann and have added a few players, and time will tell if the team is better this year. The Washington Redskins football team finally decided that Kirk Cousins was a better quarterback then RGIII. And, they have made the playoffs this year, so will see how they do. The Washington Wizards should make the playoffs this season, but not sure if they are good enough to win in the playoffs? The Washington Capitals are really good this season, should definitely make the playoffs, and hopfully get on a run during the playoffs. Could be the year.

In college sports, the Maryland Terps football team had a terrible season, fired their coach, and hired a new coach(K Drurkin), and he is putting together a great staff and good recruiting class so far. We will see if the results on the field will match. The Maryland Terps basketball team is off to a great start this season and should be in the Top 10(most of the season). Got a great recruiting class and deep with players, and they should make a deep run in the NCAA playoffs this year. The Maryland Terps baseball team was Top 20 last season and should also be this season.

December 2014 Update

Time for a new sports update. Well, baseball season did not go as good as was expected for the Washington Nationals(many thought they would be in the World Series), so looking forward to this coming 2015 season. Nats have lost a few players and have added a few and time will tell if the team is better this year. The Washington Redskins football team has been a total disaster(again) this season, and I am not sure it will be any better next season. The Washington Wizards, on the other hand, should definitely make the playoffs this season. They could be one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. The Washington Capitals, also should make the playoffs, and hopfully get on a run during the playoffs.

In college sports, the Maryland Terps football team had an "OK" season(7-5), but they lost their bowl game to Stanford. If they can add a few more good recruits to a good class so far, things should be looking "up" for them in the Big 10 next Fall. The Maryland Terps basketball team is off to a great start this season and coud be in the Top 10(certainly the Top 25) this season and they should make the NCAA playoffs and win a couple of games. They are young and they may have a great recruiting class coming in next season.

December 2013 Update

Time for a new sports update. Well, baseball season did not go good at for the Washington Nationals, so looking forward to this coming 2014 season. Nats have added another good pitcher, Doug Fister, so that shold really help. The Washington Redskins football team has been a total disaster this season, and I am not sure it will be any better next season. The Washington Wizards, on the other hand, should have a good year and make the playoffs this season. They seem to be on the upward track. The Washing Capitals, also should make the playoffs, and hopfully get on a run during the playoffs. This could be the year for the Caps.

In college sports, the Maryland Terps football team had an "OK" season(7-5), and they are playing in a bowl game. If they can win the bowl game and add a few more good recruits to a good class so far, things should be looking "up" for them when they move from the ACC to the Big 10 next Fall. Same for the Terps basketball team. They need to make the NCAA playoffs this season and win a couple of playoff games. They are stil young and have a great recruiting class coming in next year when they also move from the ACC to the Big 10. The Terps soccer team just lost the National Championship game, but they surprised by making it to the final. I am looking forward to see how all the Terps teams do in the Big-10 next year.

Mid-year Update

2013 Mid-year update. So, what is new. Not a lot.

Weather has been weird. In February, the ground-hog said it would be an early Spring, but he was totally wrong. We had a late Spring. Did not get warm until well into April. Had a nice short Spring and our cherry trees were in full bloom for well over two weeks(the longest I can remember).

The weather than got like summer in late May and thru a lot of June. Can’t wait to see what summer is going to be like?

In sports, there has been more disappointment, which is typical for the Washington area. First, the Washington Capitals played great in the short strike season, but then again failed in the playoffs. The Washington Wizards, keep teasing us with big wins then big losses, and still did not make the playoffs.

Baseball, which was suppose to be "the season", has not been good so far. The Washington Nationals win one then lose one, and do not look like a World Series contender at all. Still over a half season left, but they need to start stringing some wins together if they are to even make the play-offs.

Everything else is good, so that makes life good. And that is all that really counts, right?

Happy New Year and 2012 Review

It's a New Year and been a while since I posted. Where to begin? Well, first, the world did noit come to an end on 12/21/2012 as a lot thought it would. So, that is great news!!!

Just to re-cap a few other things the past year. Last year(2012) was the warmest year, ever, in the US. And 2013 is starting off that way, also. Global Warming? I think so.

In music, which is a big part of my life, nothing much new. CD sales are continuing to decline and more people are "buying" their music on-line and playing thru "the cloud". For me, I still like to see and hold my music. I still play music thru "the cloud", but I continue to buy CDs and even an occasional vinyl recording, and I hope those avenues do not go away.

In sports, the Washington DC area has not been a good place for sports recently. Until last year, when the Washington Nationals baseball team finally started winning and made it to the playoffs. With two outstanding drafts of Steven Strasburg and then Bryce Harper, things are really looking good for the Nat's baseball team. And the Redskins, also with a great draft in quarterback RG III, are looking like a team that may be back in the playoffs on a regular basis. But, the Washington Wizzards basketball team has not made the same progress eventhough they had a great draft with John Wall, who has been hurt too much to help this team. Maybe their fortunes will turn with another good draft this year. The Washington Capitals are just starting their season(after a long hockey strike), so will have to see how they do. They have been good the past few years, but not good enough to win anything.

In college sports, the Maryland Terps have been bad in football and not good in basketball. With new coaches in both sports, it is still a "wait and see", althought the basketball team looks like it may have turned the corner and are on the way up, whereas the football team may not have reached bottom. With Maryland leaving the ACC and going to the Big 10 in 2014, overall I feel it was a great move and will help the University of Maryland in the long run.

Well, that kind of summarizes what has been going on the past year. Maybe I can do more frequent posting, but on the otherhand, maybe not. Wait and see.
